Since early March, 2020, the world has been struggling to handle the COVID-19 virus. Schools have been closed, businesses shut down, activities cancelled, and restrictions enforced. It has been a challenging time at home, at work, and even in the Dojo.
Though our Dojo’s have been closed for the past month, the Order of Isshin-Ryu has continued to explore new ways to seek knowledge, to pass on what we have learned, and to train.
In the words of Grandmaster Cooling: “I cannot prevent the wind from blowing, but I can adjust my sails to work for me.” – Number 10, Code of the Order of Isshin-Ryu.
Sensie Ginn has initiated Virtual Dojo classes on Zoom for training twice each week. Students are working on Kata and sending videos to their Sensei for review. Sensei’s are posting videos of drills on Facebook for students to work on at home.
The Order of Isshin-Ryu karate-ka are doing all they can to maintain their skills and continue to find ways to challenge themselves mentally, spiritually and physically.
We may not be in the Dojo together, but we are all in this together.
